• HUBS/GROUPS WILL LEAD EACH ‘SECTION’ – They will lead the group, along with the Stewards for Linking up, some are organising buses. The groups will have a list of numbers/names of all who are within their link.
• TIME – be at the start of your link NO LATER THAN 12.00
• 12.00 start to walk along your link to form a single line of people.
• 12.30 – Join up the ‘links’ by holding hands or holding saltires between people.
• Stay in Linked formation for approx 20 minutes for photos, live coverage, drones and interviews. Musicians, feel free to play at this time, folks sing, chant etc.
• AFTER THE LINK ENDS – it’s up to you!

We need that person to join NOW so we know that 1m space is covered, we don’t have too many or too few in each space.

• YES YOU DO NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN, if

  

•  you only have a number and not a letter of the alphabet too.
• The 11 section have now been subdivided eg 1A, 1B, 1C etc each of these are approx 1km long.
• We need to ensure that we have a maximum of 1 person per 1m length within each 1km section.
• That is why, at the moment, we are giving everyone the option to choose their preferred sub section.
• If we don’t receive this, we will allocate you to one.
• THIS IS FOR HEALTH & SAFETY REASONS AND TO ENSURE COVERAGE OF THE LENGTHS.

• YOU JOIN US AND YOU CHOOSE YOUR PREFERRED SECTION/SUBSECTION.
• At the moment you go to www.chainoffreedom.scot and click JOIN US and you choose your preferred section.
• We then respond to each and every one of you to confirm receipt of your preference – if you don’t get an email it’s due to email being blocked by your provider, considered as spam or a mistype on your form.
• NEARER THE TIME you may not be able to join your preferred section, if it’s full, and then we will have to re-assign you.

QUESTION AND ANSWER – NUMBER 4

• 

  WE NEED EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU TO REGISTER BECAUSE organising a Chain is totally different from organising a march.
• Marches start at one specific point and end at another specific point where everyone and the length from start to finish is walked by all those gathered.
• The Chain has to be split into small, manageable groups, then organised to ensure that we have a person standing on each 1m length of the entire canal path to form the single person long chain.
• Each length (approx 1km) will have locations where the canal path can be reached, differing logistics, parking/facility arrangements and ease of accessibility
• We have to ensure, due to Health & Safety, that no area has too many people there which may then deem that area ‘unsafe’ to proceed.
